AN investigation was underway today after a man plunged 20ft from a crane in Southampton docks.
Police were called to the scene in Western Docks at 7.54am following a 999 call to say a 30-year-old man fell from a ladder which he had been climbing up, on to the crane.
The man was initially unconscious after falling on to concrete below but was later said to have regained consciousness.
Paramedics attended the scene and have taken the man to Southampton General Hospital GH.
The crane has been taken out of use at the Herbert Walker dry dock.
It is believed the Health and Safety Executive have been informed of the incident and will be investigating.
