The parents of a 15-year-old Hampshire girl who disappeared six days ago issued an emotional public plea today for their daughter to come home.

Rosemary Edwards was last seen at her home in Dibden Purlieu last Tuesday following a minor family argument.

The next morning her father, David, 52, went into her room to find her gone.

She had left her mobile phone and did not take any money.

Since then police have only had two sightings of Rosemary walking on a road near her home in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Today her tearful dad told a press conference: "Rosemary please come home you haven't done anything wrong. We all love and miss you terribly.

Mr Edwards, of Wellington Close, Dibden Purlieu, was joined by his wife Jennifer, 47, and their two other children Robert, 17, and Lucy,19.

His voice breaking with emotion, he said: "Rosemary is a confident, beautiful and talented young girl whose love of horses takes up most of her free time.

"She is an excellent horse rider and loves the Forest and its wildlife which she enjoys photographing.

"She is intelligent and self motivated and very accomplished at school and life in general.

"She has many friends and is loved and greatly missed by so many people, and we have been overwhelmed by the level of support and concern expressed by members of the Waterside community.

"We appeal to anyone who believes they may have seen her to contact the police immediately."

Rosemary is a pupil at Noadswood School in Dibden Purlieu.

Head teacher Alex Bernard told the press conference: "Rosemary is one of our brightest and best students. She is a really popular girl and we look forward to welcoming her back into the school community as soon as possible."

Rosemary went missing last Tuesday after a row with her parents.

Police Superintendent Barry Talbot said: "More than 30 detectives were involved in the search for Rosemary, who is 15 years old but could pass for 18.

"We are retaining an open mind and considering all possibilities. Quite clearly there are a number.

"The majority of officers involved in the search have children of their own and their thoughts are with the family."
