SINGLE men of the New Forest, don't despair - it's officially nothing personal.

The New Forest has been named in the top ten worst places in the UK to meet members of the opposite sex if you are a red-blooded man.

The statistics have come from a man from Cumbria, who was so depressed at the lack of women in his own town he led an Internet campaign to find out where else was suffering.

And according to his research the New Forest is among a handful of places where men outnumber women by as many as 10 to one.

The trouble spots were identified by 23-year-old Vince Peart, who set up an Internet appeal for women to visit his town.

The appeal was so successful that he was then inundated with requests for help from single men nationwide - and the number of pleas from the New Forest soared.

Anya Slatter, who runs dating agency Preludes, which covers Hampshire and Dorset, agreed there is an imbalance of men and women - but not by as many as 10 to one.

She said: "There are definitely not 10 men for each woman, on our books anyway. But we do have more men than women."
