CUT-price supermarket Aldi has once again been spurned in its bid for a new store in Winchester.
The city council has welcomed upmarket Waitrose but has again rejected a plan by the German competitor who wants to open a store nextdoor.
Aldi has failed in its third bid to bring a store to the city but says it plans to appeal.
Councillors were unmoved by its revised plans for the site of the former Chimneys pub in Stockbridge Road, Weeke.
The planning committee threw out the scheme by nine votes to one.
