TRIBUTES have been paid to a Hampshire councillor who died suddenly at the weekend.
Sue Fitzgerald, 52, was elected to represent Wickham and Knowle on Winchester City Council in May this year, and has been described by Liberal Democrat colleagues as showing "enormous commitment" to the job.
She collapsed on Friday, having just returned from a day trip to France with husband Ted. She was rushed to hospital but died later in the day.
Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, Cllr Therese Evans said, "We are all devastated by Sue's sudden death.
"Not only was she my fellow ward councillor and personal friend, but she showed so much promise in her work on the council and as councillor for Wickham and Knowle.
"She obviously had a bright future in local government, and will be a great loss to her constituency and the council."
Details of her funeral are yet to be announced.
