Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder following a suspected arson attack on a four-storey block of flats in Hampshire.
Police said a man and a youth were arrested following the death of a man in his 40s from smoke inhalation.
The force was not able to reveal the names or ages of those arrested.
More than 50 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze in Milton Road, Portsmouth, in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The pair were also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a second man who is recovering from smoke inhalation in hospital.
Firefighters used ladders and a specialist turntable ladder to rescue 19 occupants after the fire broke out.
