A CAR’S engine burst into flames on a quiet road in Locks Heath.
Firefighters raced to Cavendish Road at around 7.10pm last night after reports of a vehicle on fire.
One crew from Hightown used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to put the fire out, which was cleared by approximately 7.43pm.
One onlooker said: “I looked out my window to be shocked at the sight of the fire across the road.
“I was baffled. Passers by gawped at the catastrophe and called the emergency services.
“A fire engine was at the scene within minutes. Luckily the fire was put out quickly.”
