A POET and photographer have been chosen for a new exhibition.
Curators at K6 Gallery, housed in a pair of red phone boxes near Town Quay, have chosen Toby Glanville and Ella Frears to create new work based on Southampton bus routes.
The pair will travel on the number 17 Bluestar route, taking pictures and writing poetry.
The work will then be exhibited on the buses alongside work from the original project, which was made by photographer Nancy Honey and poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy.
The original project was commissioned by Southampton City Council 25 years ago.
A K6 gallery spokesperson said they were “inundated” with more than 90 project proposals and added: “Both Toby and Ella put in extremely strong applications. We were blown away by the quality of their work and the level of experience they could offer, along with their approaches to the project as outlined in imaginative proposals.
“Toby Glanville is an established photographer, well known for his portraiture. He has been published extensively, including for the Observer, Sunday Times, Vogue and the British Journal of Photography. His work can be found in the British Museum and National Portrait Gallery.
“Ella Frears is a writer, poet and visual artist. She’s completed poetry residencies at Tate St Ives, and nearby at SPUD’s Observatory Residency at Buckler’s Hard. She has recently been shortlisted for the Outspoken Poetry Prize and the Manchester Poetry Prize.”
