CAMPAIGNERS handed over a ‘cheque’ in a bid to raise awareness.
Representatives from the Taxpayers’ Alliance were at Sunday’s Saints match to tell Southampton City Council they don’t agree with the £100 a day clean air zone charge.
As reported businesses could be forced to pay the fee to enter Southampton if the proposals are pushed through.
But campaign manager James Price said: “It was all great fun. We started calling it a tax on the fans. It’s putting off people coming into the city and getting an extra tax on them.
“Of course it’s charged to the companies but it’s the people who will have to pay.”
They were also in Southampton City Centre handing out leaflets.
