IT was a marathon effort that has now helped raise £140,000 for a Hampshire charity.
After running 21 marathons in 21 days fundraiser Steve Radjen has collected £40,000 for Naomi House and Jacksplace hospice in Winchester in honor of their 21st birthday.
Then the 56-year-old runner from Brockenhurst staged a Gala Woodland Ball which raised another £100,000 towards his total.

The event was held in a deluxe marquee and more than 400 guests attended.
They were greeted with champagne on arrival and were served a three course meal.
The main event of the evening was the auction that was hosted by the BBC’s Thomas Plant.
It raised more than £82,000 and 24 of Steve's guests also donated £1,500 each to cover the costs of a days worth of nursing care at Naomi House.
Mark Smith, CEO of Naomi House & Jacksplace said: “We cannot even begin to thank Steve and his support team enough for the incredible dedication that has gone into this entire challenge.
"The money that was raised will go a long way to support the children, young adults and their families we support through good days, difficult days and last days.
"Well done Steve!”
Steve has been a 'loyal' supporter of Naomi House for the past 15 years 'thanked' everyone who has supported him on this challenge.
He said: "This was for the children and families we support and the amazing staff that deliver this essential service.”
