HAMPSHIRE Police is one of the worst forces in the country for listening to members of the public reporting crime and then recording what they say properly.
A report from the Audit Commission published today reveals that the county is in the bottom five performing forces in England and Wales in this category.
The situation does not seem to be improving, with the constabulary rated as "fair" under the review into crime data quality - the same position it has been in for the past three years.
They are ranked with the Met, Northamptonshire, South Wales and West Mercia, who also received the same grade.
The report released by the Commission and the Wales Audit Office is the fourth of its kind. The idea of the National Crime Recording Standard (NCRS) is designed to ensure that information or allegations are recorded more accurately than ever before.
