A trip to the fabulous home ground of Wyvern Saints for the morning kick off as Pace and Wyvern looked for there first win of the season in front of a packed crowd The ref got the game underway but you wouldn't have known it as the Panthers were all still waking up allowing Wyvern plenty of time on the ball and to push forward creating chances, and with about the fifth kick of the game a corner put in from the left found an unmarked Saint gleefully accepting an easy chance in front of goal.
With heads dropping Pace had to pull their socks up and get on with some fighting battling football rather than their usual pretty flowing game although Wyvern had acquitted themselves much better and another chance was superbly saved by Jack Nicholson keeping his team in the game.
With five minutes gone Pace finally had some joy down the right channel with Lukas McCartney playing in Kieran Hine who struck the bar and not long after a cross found its way to Joe Grant who chipped the wyvern keeper and Jack Cullin was on hand to poke home an easy finish, but had Joe's chip already crossed the line - only Jack knows.
Still Wyvern came back and only a fine goal line clearance from Dan Shutt kept out a looping Wyvern shot to keep the scores level .
With Pace visibly coming back into the game they had several chances going forward with Lukas McCartney having a goal ruled out for offside and Joe Grant and Jack Cullin pushing shots past the post.
Still Wyvern came back and with Pace being slow to close down the ball the Saints had shot after shot wide or over the bar, the Panthers were really riding there luck and changes were made before the break to settle the lads down.
With George Woodhall and his fellow Striker now starting to pull apart the defence and Jack Cullin providing vital support things were starting to improve.
Half Time 1-1.
Words in the changing room at half time and Pace came out a rejuvenated team and looked more in command, with Matt Stupple now supplying the crosses from the right and Sam Kirkham pushing up into left wing.
Pace looked unstoppable as first a cross from the left found Lukas McCartney in the box to smash home giving Pace the lead and it wasn't long before another cross from the left found Lukas again on the edge of the six yard box and again the ball nestled into the net.
Wyvern were now having trouble getting attacks going as Mattie Wateridge the Pace sweeper was snuffing out any balls over the top leaving Jack Nicholson with not a lot to do between the sticks after a great first half showing.
Another change in the middle of the park and Pace were now really dominating the game with Dan Shutt launching in some great corners Jack Cullin popped up with his second of the day to put the panthers 4-1 up.
Sam Kirkham was having lots of joy down the left and Pace were in control, with only a few minutes left with one last chance for Wyvern and goalie Jack was quick off his line to put pay to any chances of a consolation from the saints Another solid performance from Aaron Carey and Jack Stickland at the back, the midfield were different class in the second half with great performances from Ilyas Warshow and Michael Donovan.
Full Time 4-1 to Pace Panthers.
The Pace Management added : We had a very slow start to the game.
Wyvern were unlucky not to be three or four up before Pace shook off their early morning heads.
With some tough games fast approaching we are going to need to have everyone "on the ball" right from the first whistle.
On the flip side I was extremely proud of the lads with their change in attitude at the break and went out for the second half a different team.
