A BUSY Hampshire motorway has been plunged into rush hour traffic chaos due to emergency works.
Drivers face a two hour delay on the northbound M3 tonight due to emergency electrical works.
Two lanes of the M3 are currently closed between junction 13 for Eastleigh and junction 12 for Chandlers Ford.
#M3 Northbound - Traffic has now been RELEASED between J13/A335 #Eastleigh and J12/A335 #ChandlersFord but Lanes 1 and 2 remain CLOSED due to the ongoing emergency electrical works, over 2 HOURS delay! 😱 pic.twitter.com/cPUx0lPKL6

The incident caught traffic chiefs at ROMANSE - the county's traffic management system - by surprise at first.
On Twitter, the organisation said it had 'no idea why' the vehicle was working on the motorway.
But ROMANSE later said it was part of emergency electrical works.
#M3 Northbound - Lanes 1 and 2 CLOSED between J13/A335 #Eastleigh and J12/A335 #ChandlersFord, not a broken down HGV but a works lorry putting cones out, no idea why this is happening, delays back past J14/#M27. pic.twitter.com/h59yVsyqgd
