POLICE are continuing their search for a man who has been missing since the early hours of Christmas Day.
Godfrey Mukondo, 41, was last seen leaving CoCo Bar and Lounge at Harbour House in Town Quay, Southampton, at around 4.30am on December 25.
He is thought to have headed east after leaving the premises.
But his family and friends have not seen or heard from him since and are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.
They spent Christmas and New Year anxiously waiting for news as police continued to search for Mr Mukondo.
He has now been missing for more than a week.
On Monday police carried out a search off Town Quay amid fears that he might have ended up in the water.
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that its marine unit was called out to help in the operation to find Mr Mukondo.
As the Daily Echo went to press last night police had not issued any further updates on what they are doing to find him or the progress of the operation.
Several people had taken to social media to voice their hopes that Mr Mukondo will be found safe and well.
One man posted: “Hope you’re safe G. Come home to your family soon.”
Another well-wisher also posted a message aimed directly at the missing man, saying: “I pray there is news soon. We all want to know you are safe.”
Other social media users expressed surprise at the lack of sightings on Mr Mukondo. One said: “What’s going on? Nobody can just disappear like that.”
Police have released a photograph of Mr Mukondo together with a CCTV image of him in CoCo Bar and Lounge.
He is described as black, around 6ft 2in tall, and of average build. He was last seen wearing a flat cap with a dark-coloured jacket and a white top underneath.
A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “Were you in CoCo Bar and Lounge on the night of Christmas Eve? Do you remember seeing the man in the CCTV image?
“Did you see him leave?
“Perhaps you were in Town Quay in the early hours of Christmas morning and remember seeing Godfrey walk away from the nightclub?”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
