ROBBERS armed with a pickaxe threatened staff at a corner shop before making off with hundreds of pounds.
The men burst into the shop wielding the weapon and demanding cash before fleeing the One Stop on Park Road taking £500 as well as a “large quantity” of cigarettes.
Now police have launched a hunt for the getaway car which was reported stolen from Millbrook.
The men fled the scene in a Silver Ford C-Max taken from Severn Road between 1am and 1.20am on January 15. It was later found on Warren Avenue.
Police are asking anyone who saw the vehicle – with a registration plate ending in UPT – or may have caught it on dashcam in the Millbrook and Shirley areas, and Millbrook Road West or Millbrook Road East between the time of the theft taking place and the time of the robbery to contact them.
The robbery took place just before 11.15pm on January 15.
Officers arrested an 18-year-old man from Devon on suspicion of robbery. He has since been released but remains under investigation.
The robbery took place just hours before the One Stop Shop on Peartree Avenue was ram-raided. The burglars left empty-handed.
Police say there is nothing to link the two “at this time.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting 44190018158.
