SOUTHAMPTON residents hit by the winter chill could be entitled to grants of up to £2,700 to help pay for winter heating.
Southampton City Council is reminding people they could be eligible for a Warm Front grant to help with the costs of central heating or house insulation.
Last year only 441 residents took advantage of the grant - but civic leaders say nearly 11,800 homes could be eligible.
People aged over 60 and those with children under 16 are among those eligible for the scheme, along with those suffering from long-term illnesses and pregnant women who have a maternity certificate, MAT B1, if they receive other benefits.
