IN an unusual case a Southampton man has had a matter reopened, a sentence set aside and then been re-convicted.
Basingstoke Magistrates Court approved an application to reopen a case of James Wilson for failing to identify the driver of a vehicle believed to have committed an offence. The sentence imposed on December 20 was set aside.
Wilson, 56, of Coleman Street, was then convicted of the same offence involving a Ford Transit. No further details were available.
The case was proved in his absence and he was disqualified for 12 months because it was a repeat offence. Wilson was also fined £660 with a £66 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
