THEY are two of the biggest music acts in Britain – and they are coming to Southampton this month.

Take That will play St Mary's Stadium for two nights this weekend, in one of the most hotly anticipated gigs this year in the city.

It will be followed by an equally anticipated performance by legendary singer Rod Stewart to St Mary's on May 31.

Ahead of the two massive gigs, here are some tips for those going to the event, as well as for residents near the stadium.

How should I organise my travel arrangements?

During each day of the concerts, there will be several road closures and strict parking restrictions in place around the stadium.

To help make your journey and concert experience as enjoyable as possible, we recommend for your ease using the shuttle bus service to and from the stadium.

Shuttle Buses run regularly from Southampton Central Train Station and operate from the South Side (Platform 4).

Southampton is served by Southampton Central Railway Station, which is approximately a mile from the stadium - roughly a 20 minute walk.

The station is fully accessible to wheelchair users 24 hours a day. Please contact South Western Railway Customer Service Centre on 0345 6000 650 for any queries.

An additional shuttle bus service will also be running from the Town Quay.

Should people plan to get there extra early?

The food village opens at 3pm, making it the ideal place to enjoy the summer weather and be part of the exciting build up to the main event.

A large selection of bars and food offers will ensure you’re fed and watered prior to the evening's entertainment.

Gates will open at 5.30pm for Take That/5pm for Rod Stewart to enter the stadium.

Are there going to be support acts?

Take That will have iconic popstar, Rick Astley, opening their Greatest Hits Live tour during their two evenings on the south coast.

Meanwhile, folk genre band, Johnny Mac and The Faithful, will be kick-starting Rod Stewart’s big night at St Mary’s.

Will there be any major road closures to note?

For the concerts to take place, the following road closures will be enforced.

Security – what shall I bring? What to leave at home?

Small clutch bags, approximately A4 size (21cm by 30cm maximum), with or without a handle or strap will be allowed into the venue for live performances.

Exceptions will be made for medically required items after proper declaration and inspection.

No alcohol, no glass – this will include perfume and aftershave bottles.

No flares, no cans, no food or drink, no sprays, deodorants, no laser pointers, no fireworks, pyrotechnics, no long chains on wallets, purses etc., no audio or recording equipment such as iPads, tablets, computers etc., no professional cameras or cameras with detachable lenses, no umbrellas – small, medium, golfing or foldable.

No selfie sticks, no drugs, illegal substances, legal highs, nitrous oxide, psycho active substances, any item deemed to be inappropriate or offensive including clothing, no weapons of any kind or anything that could be considered a weapon including studded jewellery, no bottled liquid or water bottles will be allowed entry into the event.

Plastic cups and water points are available complimentary on-site or alternatively bottled water can be purchased from our food village.

What time will the concerts finish?

All the concerts will finish by 10.30pm at the latest.

Can I still get tickets?

Tickets are still available to purchase for both concerts via Ticketmaster, with ticket prices for Take That ranging from £71.50 and £200.00 – meanwhile, you can purchase Rod Stewart tickets for prices between £34.70 to £137.50. Make sure you only buy tickets through Ticketmaster (the official ticket seller for the event) to prevent the scenario of being denied entry.
