A CAT was rescued from a van engine after it was found trapped yesterday.
Emergency services were called to Redhouse Park Gardens, Gosport, at 10am to rescue the animal.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We do not know how the cat got in there, but it had to be sedated by the vet before he was able to lift the animal out of the van.
“Cosham Fire Station attended the scene and the vehicle was lifted to gain access to the cat. The RSPCA were also informed.”
Suzanne Norbury, a regional press officer for the RSPCA, said: “The cat could have been attracted to the heat as they are quite curious animals. They get themselves into some unusual places sometimes.
“It is not uncommon that we have had reports of cats caught in engines. We do get the odd call and most of the time the cats are able to be rescued fine.
She added: “Younger cats are very interested in small spaces and it is good it has been rescued.
