A SOUTHAMPTON woman has been rushed to hospital after a fire tore through her flat.

Two crews from St Mary's fire station battled a blaze at her ground floor flat in Middle Street, St Mary's.

The 27-year-old female was assessed for smoke inhalation by South Central Ambulance Service following a kitchen fire.

Fire and rescue services used one hose reel to tackle the fire which started at around 1.20am this morning.

The stop message came in at 2.16am.
