THIS cosy pub sets the bar so high for a Sunday dinner that it offers five types of roasts to its customers.

According to manager Brian Readman, who has worked and lived at The Crofton for 16 years, they are always fully booked on Sundays - as they offer "something for everybody" who visits.

Roasts on the menu include beef, turkey, pork, gammon and a vegetarian nut roast.

Alongside Sunday dinners, Brian said they are "renowned" for real ales.

He said: "We are renowned for the six real ales we always serve at the bar.

"At our recent beer festival, we sold 16 extra ales - barrels full - on top of the six we sell here all the time.

"We get locals in here and even people who travel from Basingstoke."

The Crofton, in Fareham, host an annual beer festival which brings in hundreds of visitors.

And not just ales are sold here, but artwork plays a large role too.

Painted on the pub walls are several pieces of artwork being sold, which are created by their chef Judi.

The pub is also known for their dog-friendly welcome.

Brian said: "Sometimes, we have ten dogs in here at one time.

"Everyone that owns a dog comes in here to stop off during walks."

Wakes and wedding parties are regularly held at the skittle alley function room inside the '60s-built pub.

They host quiz nights every Tuesday and themed food nights, including Turkish, Chinese, and bangers and pies, on the first Monday of each month.

Included in their food menu is a liver and bacon option, which Barry says is their most popular dish.

There are separate areas for dining and drinking, while a beer garden is situated outside the front.

Alongside their four-star rating on review site TripAdvisor, the pub holds a Certificate of Excellence in their serving of cask ales and a Gold Fareham in Bloom Business award.
