WITH CHRISTMAS less than day away Southampton shoppers are no doubt looking to see what bargains they can bag on Boxing Day.
Although many shops are remaining tight-lipped about what the deals of the day will be, here at the Echo we’ve compiled what we know so far.
Westquay will be opening from 9am to 6pm on Boxing Day and from 9am to 8pm on December 27.
This year the iconic shopping centre has been running its “Merry Everything” campaign.
From December 17 to January 17 there will be a “host of amazing winter sales and discounts”.
Meanwhile, this year’s hotly-anticipated Next Boxing Day sale will start at 6am with stores staying open until 6pm.
What we know so far:
Accessorize: up to 50 per cent off selected products
Crew Clothing: up to 50 per cent off selected products
Newlook: up to 25 per cent off selected products
Smiggle - up to 50 per cent off selected goodies
Cath Kidston: up to 50 per cent off
Molton Brown: up to 30 per cent off selected collections
Schuh: up to 50 per cent off
Last year bargain hunters queued outside Westquay from as early as 3am today in a bid to snap up some discount deals in the Boxing Day sales.
Thousands crowded into the Southampton shopping centre as retailers slashed prices in the wake of Christmas.
However, the accountancy firm, PwC has predicted nationally people have been shopping later and spending less this Christmas.
This is partly because there has been one less shopping weekend between Black Friday and December 25 this year.
Lisa Hooker, PwC’s consumer markets leader, said: “We expect to see a bumper Boxing Day sale compared to previous years, with deep discounts for patient consumers.”
The predictions come as retailers end a difficult year after shoppers held off on spending until Black Friday and then exercised caution due to uncertainty around Brexit and the General Election.
