A PLANNED re-enactment of the first flight of the Spitfire prototype that was due to fly over Southampton Airport tomorrow has been cancelled.
Due to poor weather conditions expected to hit the city, organisers Solent Sky Museum have postponed the annual flyover which was meant to take place at 3pm.
The aircraft was planned to carry on board the only surviving relic of the original prototype Spitfire, recreating its first flight on the same runway from which it flew 84 years ago.
They said: "Thank you to all those who have been so supportive and enthusiastic of this wonderful event, and we will keep you updated as we organise another date in the future."
