AN incredible £30,000 has been raised for a popular Hampshire activity farm to help feed the resident animals during the coronavirus lockdown.

Friends, supporters and visitors have rallied round to feed the farm animals - including donkeys, pigs, goats, rabbits, horses and chickens - at Longdown Activity Farm, on Deerleap Lane in Ashurst.

The money has been raised through a GoFundMe page, set up by farm owner Bryan Pass, who originally hoped to raise just £5,000.

In a statement on the page, Bryan said: “The current Covid-19 pandemic has impacted on countless businesses and lives. For Longdown Activity Farm this has meant the closure of our farm gate to our many visitors and the cancellation of all our school group bookings for this year.

“Since the middle of March our income has come to an abrupt end; while the government has promised grants and funding, in the short to medium term this is proving difficult for us to access.

“We now have an urgent need for help to feed the animals that are staying on the farm. We have managed to provide alternative homes for some of our stock, but still have a number of horses, donkeys, cattle, alpacas, goats, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs and poultry to feed on a daily basis and to keep on top of their veterinary needs.

“We appreciate that this is a very difficult time for everyone so we give grateful and humble thanks for any donation you may be able to spare.”

Nearly 1,500 donors and counting have joined the crowdfunder for the popular attraction.
