LOCKDOWN is certainly suiting one Southampton dance music act.
Not only have FooR signed for one of the biggest record labels in the world, but they have seen the WBC heavyweight champion of the world work out to one of their tracks.
Just as coronavirus restrictions were announced, members of the popular city collective were due to travel to London to complete their major record label signing with Warner Music Group. Gavin Foord and Tyrone had to mock up their own signing photo instead.
The next thing they knew Tyson Fury was sharing their track Fresh with his 3.7 million Instagram followers as he worked out at home to the track with his wife Paris.
Earlier this year, Fresh became the soundtrack to the Coors Light TV advert which was beamed into living rooms around the UK on Sky Sports, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 as well as on radio and in cinemas.
Fronted by Gavin Foord and Tyrone, with Aki and Jon Doe, FooR are all from Southampton.
Championed by the likes of Radio 1’s MistaJam and DJ Target, FooR have released a handful of singles and remixed the likes of Wretch32, Tinchy Stryder and Ghetts.
They have all been friends for many years.
Once they hit their teens they started making music together and then throwing parties, first locally, and then across the South Coast.
Now, the Southampton based collective of producers, musicians, DJs, and MCs are at the forefront of the current UK Garage revival and have also become UK Garage’s fastest rising stars on the live circuit.
The last few years have seen them play at various festivals and events around the UK and Europe including Common People, Boomtown Garage Nation Festival, Pierjam, Amnesia Ibiza, Aqua Club in Ayia Napa and Island Club in Kavos.
