AN ATTEMPTED murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in the chest at a city centre address.
Police are currently in the area of Denzil Avenue, Southampton, following the incident in the earlier hours of this morning.
Officers were called to reports of a serious assault at an address at around 1.20am.
The victim, a 35-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "We were called at around 1.20am this morning, Thursday, May 7 after a man had been seriously assaulted at an address in Denzil Avenue, Southampton.
"On arrival, officers found a 35 year-old man with a stab wounds to his chest and he was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
"A 33 year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
"He remains in police custody at this time.
"Officers will be in the area today carrying out enquiries. If you have any concerns please come and speak to us."
