ECHO reader Celia Richardson got in touch to share a couple of wonderful pictures she had from VE Day.
The first picture shows Alice Witt (with an x on her shoulder) who would have been about 30 at the time.
She was a good friend of Celia's grandmother, Grace Protheroe, and lived in Belgrave Road, Portswood before the council compulsory purchased all the houses and put a trading estate there
It's thought the photo was taken of the street party in Belgrave Road.
The second photo shows Celia's father, Bernard Ford, sitting on the top of the Burtons store which was near the Bargate - he's in the middle wearing the pale trousers.
Bernard would have been 30 and had served in the Corp of Royal Engineers in Egypt for five years.
