A CYCLIST in his 80s has been found collapsed in a Hampshire road.
The man was found lying in Cupernham Lane in Romsey at around 10am this morning.
He was rushed to hospital where he remains at the time of writing.
Police taped off the road for most of the morning to carry out their investigations.
Meanwhile, motorists were urged to avoid the area and take alternative routes.
Cupernham Lane has since reopened, however officers have now launched a witness appeal.
A police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for information after a cyclist was found collapsed in the road in Romsey.
"Officers were called at 10.05am on Friday, May 8 following the incident in Cupernham Lane.
"The cyclist, a man in his 80s, was taken to Southampton General Hospital. Next of kin are aware.
"An investigation is ongoing as to how the incident occurred."
