FANS of Joseph Arthur will be devastated if they missed the final UK performance of the Ohio-born singer-songwriter and his band.
Playing the intimate setting of The Talking Heads, the musicians were outstanding as they poured out a mix of new songs and a range from Arthur's solo back catalogue.
The brilliance of the night surely came from the style in which they played tracks such as Black Lexus and Honey and the Moon.
What to many are subtle, harmonious songs that slowly reach into the hearts of listeners, become stripped down, raw and overwhelmingly soulful live performances.
Together with the hypnotically sexy - and talented - hip-swaying bass player Sybil Buck, alongside lead guitar Jennifer Turner, live music has rarely looked or sounded this good.
The performance left such a lasting impression, that dozens of fans literally paid money to listen to it all over again by queuing up to get a CD recording of the night that was available ten minutes after the encore. And this reviewer was first in line.
