A MAN was injured after being shot with 'a pellet gun' after reports that two people were seen with "long barrelled firearms".
The pair were allegedly seen on the roof above Specsavers and Poundland on Above Bar Street, Hampshire Constabulary said.
Armed police then shut off part of Southampton city centre.
Officers cordoned off the high street, as well as surrounding roads, following the call at 3.41pm yesterday (Saturday) as they carried out their investigations.
However, following an extensive hour-long search - which included armed officers scouring roofs, "no one has been located, no one has been reported injured to us and we have not received any further calls," the force said.
At 6pm, a police spokesperson said: "We were called at 3.41pm to reports of two people on the roofs above Specsavers and Poundland on Above Bar Street.
"Several people reported that the two people were holding what looked like long barrelled firearms.
"Officers deployed to the area to carry out a thorough search.
"At this time, no one has been located. We have not received any further calls.
"One man has since been reported injured, not seriously, in the leg with what believe is a pellet gun injury. We therefore believe those seen were carrying air weapons.
"Officers have since left the area. Enquiries into who was involved is ongoing."
The cordons were lifted at around 6pm.
Police officers have stayed on the scene to continued their investigation.
