THE installation of a new footbridge on the M27 has begun while closures take place.
The beginning end of the bridge was seen being put into its place at North Fareham at 6am this morning (Saturday).
Works to install the footbridge will run until 6am on Monday, September 7.
As a result, drivers wanting to travel along the route between Junction 9 at Whiteley and 11 at Fareham will instead be diverted.
Cranes will be used to lift the prefabricated bridge into position.
Highways England wrote on social media: "The southside spans are now on and the crane is being de-rigged. The main spans have also been delivered to site.
"Fareham's new footbridge is well on its way to being in place."
