A SOUTHAMPTON mum is calling on parents to educate their children after being subjected to racist abuse.
The mum, who did not wish to be named, had confronted a gang of children who assaulted her young son at Veracity Recreation Ground on Merryoak Road, Southampton.
It happened between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Friday.
An eight-year-old Asian boy had been surrounded by a group of ten to eleven-year-olds, said police.
Officers added that the youngster was then assaulted and knocked to the ground.
The victim ran home to his mother who then attended the play park to try and reason with the children.
But as she tried to talk to the gang she was racially abused and had a scooter thrown at her.
She said: “The place that should be all about children playing and having fun became the place of children being bullied, harassed and physically assaulted.
“These things have been happening for quite some time and unfortunately nobody cares or does anything about it.
“Seems the community is not united, children turn against each other and bullies support other bullies.”
The mother added that she fears for the future of youths being raised in today’s society.
She said: “My concern is, what society do we live in and what kind of future generation of the youth will we raise? Bullies? Criminals?
“Why do the laws and legislations protect children but do not protect adults being bullied and harassed by children?”
The mum went on to accuse children of having “no manners” and said that she wants the local community to fight against discrimination.
She said: “It seems we live in a society where we are being threatened by children who have no manners and the only thing they know is how to swear and bully. Why are we not educating?
“Please help to raise these issues and unite the community and society to have one voice and fight against bullying, racial discrimination and physical abuse.”
