ARMED police swooped to a machete incident in Southampton.
A 54-year-old man was rushed to hospital after being found with head injuries in Shirley Road on Sunday morning.
Two 36-year-old men had also been assaulted but did not require hospital treatment following an attack at around 12.30am.
Officers seized a machete, but enquiries are ongoing as to how the men came to be injured.
A 28-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and wounding with intent.
Police later taped off Newlands Avenue and an area surrounding New Century Bingo hall in Shirley Road.
Officers remained at the scene for much of the day carrying out investigations.
A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.37am on Sunday, September 13 to a report of a public order incident in Shirley Road, Southampton.
"Enquiries into how the men were injured are ongoing.
"We would like to hear from anyone with information on what happened.
"In particular, we would like people in the area to check any CCTV they have, and motorists to check their dashcams if they were driving in this location at the time."
The 28-year-old man remains in police custody at this time.
Meanwhile, the man treated for head injuries has since been discharged.
