RESIDENTS are being warned about a "very serious incident" which happened near two Southampton schools.
Letters were sent to parents of two schools near Daisy Dip following the incident, which happened on Wednesday afternoon.
Police patrols will reportedly be increased in the area for the rest of the week.
A letter from Bassett Green Primary School headteacher Charlotte Stilwell says: "We have been made aware of an allegedly very serious incident in the Daisy Dip area after school today.
"We are working with the police and other agencies.
"We will continue to be vigilant and educate the children on stranger danger.
"Tomorrow and for the rest of the week you will notice a high level of staff and police presence outside the school.
"Please remain calm. I can assure you we are doing everything in our power to keep our community safe."
Meanwhile, a letter from Cantell School headteacher Ian Creswell said: "We will also be increasing our staff presence in the local area before and after school."
The Daily Echo has contacted Hampshire Constabulary for more information.
