A BOY fled from a man during a "suspicious incident" in a Southampton park.
A stranger approached a boy in the Daisy Dip park off Bluebell Road on Wednesday afternoon.
The boy - a pupil from Bassett Green School - ran off when he was approached.
Police are now carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify who may have been involved.
An increased police presence will be outside the school and the surrounding area later today.
Letters were sent to parents from Bassett Green Primary School and Cantell School p following the incident at around 3pm.
A letter from Bassett Green Primary School headteacher Charlotte Stilwell says: "We have been made aware of an allegedly very serious incident in the Daisy Dip area after school today.
"We are working with the police and other agencies.
"We will continue to be vigilant and educate the children on stranger danger.
"Tomorrow and for the rest of the week, you will notice a high level of staff and police presence outside the school.
"Please remain calm. I can assure you we are doing everything in our power to keep our community safe."
