A BOUNCER who was attacked by a man with a carving knife is calling for security staff to be protected by law.
Colin Edwards was “simply doing his job”at One O Four when knifeman Arvin Ramchurn slashed at him during a “horrific attack” on August 3 last year.
Ramchurn, 42, hurled abuse at him and chased him into the premises in Above Bar Street, Southampton
He was arrested the same night and found in possession of a meat cleaver, carving knife and another blade.

Colin who was left “shaken” by what happened has slammed those who carry knives as stupid and wants to see harsher punishments for people who assault security staff.
The 43-year-old father of four is urging people to sign a petition for security staff to be added to the Assaults on Emergency Workers’ Act 2018.
Ramchurn was charged with threatening another person with a bladed article and two counts of possessing a bladed article in a public place and had previously pleaded guilty before appearing at Southampton Crown Court last week.
During sentencing, Miss Recorder Alexia Power cited Ramchurn’s mental health issues and jailed him for two years, suspended for 18 months.
He was ordered to pay Colin £250 in compensation, to complete 15 days of rehabilitation, six-months of alcohol treatment and 40 hours of unpaid work.
