A PRIMARY school has confirmed a positive case of Covid-19 within the school.
Newlands Primary School on Windermere Avenue, Millbrook, has been in contact with parents today to inform them if their child needs to isolate for two weeks.
Only a 'small number' of children are deemed to have been in close contact with the confirmed case.
The school, which has over 400 pupils has been getting advice from Public Health England on the case and says a risk assessment has been carried out.
Headteacher Karen Mellor said: "There has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school.
"We've informed our school community and have taken prompt action to put in place measures needed to minimise the spread of the virus.
"We will continue to monitor the situation in coordination with Public Health England and the council, and will keep our school community updated. "
