A SOUTHAMPTON motorway has been closed this morning following a serious crash involving a lorry and a number of cars.
Police say the M271 is shut in both directions following the incident, which happened earlier this morning.
No further details have been released but motorists are being told to avoid the area.
Highways England says diversions will be put in place.
A statement says: "Delays are likely on the approach to the closure, with additional journey times also expected on diversion routes.
"Please allow extra time for your journey if travelling in the area or consider alternative routes."
