A WHOLE year group have been told to isolate after a positive Covid-19 test at a secondary school.
The headteacher of Swanmore College on New Road, Swanmore, confirmed the news in a letter to parents yesterday.
He said that a member of the school community had tested positive for the virus.
As a result, all Year 11 students at the school have been sent home to isolate for 14 days.
The headteacher at the school, which has over 1,200 pupils, claimed this is just a "precautionary" measure.
The pupils will return to the school on December 11, as long as they are symptom free.
Staff are said to be carrying out a deep clean of all rooms used by the Year 11 pupils.
R K Jonathan, headteacher at the school, said: "We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.
"Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.
"Swanmore College remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well."
