STAFF and residents at a Hampshire care home put on their dancing shoes to celebrate its first anniversary.
The Care UK team at Carpathia Grange in Southampton Road, Hythe, organised a birthday bash to mark 12 months since the first pensioners moved in.
Everyone enjoyed a sing-along and danced to iconic songs including We’ll meet again by Vera Lynn and ‘Rock Around the Clock’ by Bill Haley and the Comets.
They were also treated a glass of bubbly and a homemade cake prepared by Carpathia Grange’s head chef, Gary Hickman.
One of the residents, Angela Forward, said: "The birthday celebrations were lovely, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
"I have loved living at Carpathia Grange for the past year, I have made many friends and created lots of happy memories.”
Manager Pooja Dhoot added: "The whole team worked hard to organise a special event, and I am delighted to say that their efforts were rewarded – our first birthday party will definitely be one to remember for years to come.
"I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who celebrated our first birthday with us, and for helping to make the day extra special despite the current circumstances.
“It’s been an unprecedented but rewarding twelve months.
"We’ve welcomed lots of new residents to the home, built relationships with brilliant local organisations, and worked hard to create a homely environment for everyone who spends time with us here at Carpathia Grange.
"While this year has not been without its challenges, we have adapted to the changing world around us to ensure every one of the residents continues to live a happy, fulfilling life in a safe environment.
"We’re excited to see what’s in store for the next year and beyond.”
Carpathia Grange is a three-storey care home that boasts 62 en-suite bedrooms, plus its own cafe, cinema and hair salon.
Care UK says the home will enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives.
It has been named after the ship which saved 700 lives after the Titanic sank during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York in 1912.
