UPDATE 10pm: Incident is still ongoing, police remain on the scene.
THE M27 is closed in both directions due to a police incident.
The road is shut between Junction 8 (Windhover) and Junction 9 (Park Gate).
The closure is said to be due to a "Hampshire Police led incident".
Officers are working on U-turning traffic caught up in the closure.
They say, due to the nature of the incident, traffic cannot be released forwards.
Road users are advised to consider alternative routes and allow additional time for their journey.
A police spokesperson said: "These closures will be in place for some time and we urge people to avoid the area."
