DICK Dastardly the villainous anti-hero from Wacky Races, a storm trooper from Star Wars and one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They've all been seen on a bike near you.

William Roberts has been pedalling the streets of Southampton and beyond in various weird and wonderful outfits - all for a great cause.

In December, he became Father Christmas on all his cycle rides and in 2021 there's an even bigger challenge on the agenda.

"I was only doing this to bring smiles to faces knowing the issues between cyclists and drivers in our city," laughed William. "But somebody suggested I could do it for charity."

So, in 2021, he will be pedalling 1,000 miles dressed as a knight, including a rather fetching 3kg chain mail head piece.

Early every weekend, he will be heading out to local castles on his bike in the hope of boosting the coffers of Prostate Cancer UK.

"My father died at 52, 21 years years ago last Christmas, so I am doing this for him," he said. "And hopefully to still bring a smile to people.

"I just thought I would do something different on this anniversary. As the year goes on, I will get more knight clothing to earn the spurs!

William recently appeared in our Me and My Bike Column having lost five stone while swopping 20,000 of his car miles a year for miles in the saddle.

Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next ten years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, they aim to stop prostate cancer being a killer.
