POLICE are still at the scene of an incident that resulted in a row of Southampton shops being sealed off.
Officers taped off the Co-op store in Warburton Road in the Thornhill area of the city.
Around four patrol cars converged on the scene after the incident occurred shortly before 3.30pm.
One person was reportedly rushed away in an ambulance.
Tonight the cordon has been removed but a police car is still outside the Co-op and another police vehicle is parked nearby.
At one point a uniformed officer could be seen searching two drains in the street.
One resident said police dashed to the scene after a fight involving about ten people.
Staff at the Co-op declined to discuss the incident. One member of staff said they were too busy helping police piece together what had happened.
The Co-op is part of a small parade of shops which also includes Thornhill Dental Practice and the Golden Leaf Chinese takeaway.
A staff member at the takeaway said: "We're not sure what's happened. The police haven't told us anything."
The streets surrounding the shops are largely deserted, with few people venturing out in the sub-zero temperatures.
At least two would-be customers arrived at the Co-op, only to be told the shop was closed.
The Daily Echo has contacted Hampshire Constabulary for more information.
