VANDALS have forced Southampton buses to divert again following an incident last night.
The back window of a City Red bus was shattered at around 4.30pm on Wednesday.
The City Red 2 bus had been travelling along Kendal Avenue at the time.
Buses were diverted via Romsey Road for the remainder of the day.
Commenting on the incident, Labour councillor for Redbridge, Lee Whitbread, said: "First bus have withdrawn services across the Millbrook estate tonight following another attack on one of the fleet.
"Glass was sprayed all over the footpath and the road but luckily quick thinking local residents came out to sweep it away although this will require a deep clean which I’ve requested from the council street cleansing staff.
"As a resident in Kendal Avenue myself I know all too well how valuable our bus service is and it’s disappointing that this incident has once again resulted in services being withdrawn.
"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage to contact the police on 101."
In January this bus operator threatened to cut services to the Millbrook estate following a second wave of vandalism.
Bluestar was forced to cancel its service after it was targeted near to the Saints Pub.
