RIGHTMOVE has revealed Hampshire’s property hotspots which have seen a huge increase in buyer searches.
Over the past 12 months the property market has seen an increase in searches and sales especially after the introduction of the temporary stamp duty holiday in July.
In fact Hampshire saw one of the biggest year-on-year increases in sales agreed, up 60 per cent from the year previous.
Which comes as no surprise as our county is a myriad of beautiful, towns, cities and villages nestled in coastal and country locations.
Rightmove has monitored the thousands of searches entered onto its website during 2020 to uncover the areas of the Hampshire where interest soared.
Here are the areas in Hampshire that have saw the biggest increase in interest during 2020:
Lyndhurst
This picturesque area of the New Forest has always been a hit with house hunters but in 2020 Lyndhurst saw a 29.8 per cent increase in buyer searches.
Tadley
Situated in North Hampshire, Tadley saw a 33.6 per cent increase in buyer searches in 2020.
Fordingbridge
The area with the third highest increase in buyer searches was Fordingbridge seeing a 34.1 per cent rise.
Hayling Island
In second place was the idyllic coastal location of Hayling Island which saw a 38.6 per cent increase in buyer searches.
Rowland's Castle
Taking top spot with a whopping 39.1 per cent increase in buyer searches was the village of Rowland’s Castle which sits on Hampshire West Sussex border.
Across the UK, property experts have reported a spike in demand for homes in rural and coastal areas which can clearly be seen in Hampshire.
Rightmove property data expert Tim Bannister explained that he expects people to continue making moves to the countryside this year.
He said: “This year we’ve seen an uplift in the number of home-movers escaping to the country and we think this trend will continue for now as people show their willingness to make significant life changes.
“The data highlights just how influential the unexpected events of this year have been in shaping the nation’s housing priorities, with many buyers determined to swap city streets for rural and coastal retreats.”
