Two boys have been released on bail following a stabbing in Southampton which left a man with serious injuries.

Police confirmed last night that the pair have both been released on bail pending investigation.

The boys, aged 16 and 17 from Southampton were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Man stabbed in Kingsbury Road, Southampton

The arrests came after a 30-year-old man was found stabbed in Kingsbury Road on Friday afternoon.

An air ambulance crew and police were spotted off Empress Road in the Northam area of the city in the afternoon of March 5.

It is believed the assault took place around 4.45pm that day.

On Saturday, a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We were called at 4.42pm yesterday afternoon (Friday, March 5) with reports of an assault in Kingsbury Road, Southampton.

“A man suffered a stab wound.

“Officers attended the scene.”

The man’s injuries were described as “serious” and as of Sunday he was still receiving hospital treatment.

Police provided a description of the two teenage suspects they wished to speak to and a hunt was launched on Sunday.

Police appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

On Sunday police confirmed that the pair had been arrested and were in custody, before they were released last night.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that their investigation into the incident is “on-going.”
