TWO teenagers have been charged with public order offences after stop and search powers were granted in a town centre.

On Tuesday last week, police were granted Section 60 powers in central Eastleigh, allowing them to stop and search anyone in that area for a 24 hour period.

The powers were granted after reports that two groups of young people may have been targeting each other with weapons.

A 17-year-old boy from Eastleigh has now been charged with one count of affray.

He has been bailed with conditions and is now set to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on April 1.

Seamus Brenden Sean Ford, an 18-year-old from Eastleigh was stop checked under the section 60 order.

He has been charged with one count of possession of a bladed article.

He has been remanded in custody and is now due to appear at Southampton Crown Court on April 9.
