FIREFIGHTERS turned out to honour a former colleague who served a Hampshire town for 34 years.
Don Cole used to be in charge at Bishop's Waltham fire station and a 1973 appliance was used to transport his coffin through the town centre.
Don, 90, died peacefully at his home last month.
He served at Bishop's Waltham from August 1951 until August 1985, retiring as a sub officer.
Don was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to the community.
He supported many of the organisations in the Bishop's Waltham area and was also active in raising funds for the Firefighters' Charity.
A 1973 appliance that used to be based at Winchester fire station was used to transport his coffin.
