I APPLAUD the volunteers as reported in the Echo 11-03-21 'Litter team fills up to 100 bags a week', but I do believe that councils who are making cuts to public services across the country are taking advantage of these well meaning volunteers.

Right up the front of the queue for councils cuts and redundancy are unfortunately the workers who once took pride working in our streets keeping them clean, and tidy such public service should never have to depend on the good will of volunteers.
