WHAT wonderful news that Southampton has such grandiose plans in place for the future, City of Culture, Freeport etc.
Must have a few bob to spend.
This is all very well but I believe the provision of public toilets is a fundamental duty of the council.
If they have to employ staff to keep toilets covid free, so be it.
I had occasion to travel across town recently and didn't dare to finish my coffee as I would have needed a loo and there just aren't any open.
Before the pandemic, many of the toilets were closed, including Riverside Park, which inhibits families trying to enjoy a day out.
We can't all afford to buy restaurant meals in order to use their toilet.
When will the council realise that these facilities are as fundamental as dining and drinking and they are there to provide them, for the benefit of the inhabitants of our lovely, but scruffy city.
Loos are a necessity so please get your priorities right.
